Transaction Tuesday 2/9

Thanks again to Josh, and Adam, and everyone over at KcChiefs.com for having me on the show again today. It was good to see the Saints win the Super Bowl, and I am really happy for that community that they got it done. I can only imagine how amazing it would be to see the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, daydreaming aside, I brought it up to Josh on the show today, so tune in, and hear for yourself.

The off season of 2010 is going to be an intriguing in that there will be less available players without restrictions than in years past. The new “rules” of the off season are in this link, http://www.barryskoolaid.com/node/87. This writer will focus on a different position group in each article to ensure that the best fan base in all sports is educated on the free agents that are available and which free agents will only be available through a form of compensation. This writer will use the website www.footballsfuture.com for the list of players in the class of 2010 NFL free agency.

The Chiefs have a big need at nose tackle and the options are limited.  The Chiefs may or may not need another outside line backer depending on your belief in Andy Studebaker.  This writer thinks Studebaker could be a good outside line backer opposite Tamba Hali.  For this part of the series, this writer will not address an upgrade at the outside line backer position.  The free agent class for 4-3 defensive ends or 3-4 outside line backers include 22 players, five players that are restricted due to the new CBA rules, one player restricted regardless of the CBA, and the rest remaining as unrestricted free agents.  For those fans that think outside linebacker is still a concern there are some options available through free agency, restricted free angency, and the draft.  The premium position of nose tackle on the other hand could be different.

Rumblings?....

Well, I  gotta say, that the Chiefs could not have started off their offseason any better folks. I was pretty confused when they decided to part ways with Clancy, but when Emmit Thomas was hired to coach the defensive backs, everything immediately made sense. Now, as the Chiefs head into this offseason, there has been a lot of rumblings. Who are they going to draft? Are they going to be making a splash in free agency? Are there going to be any trades? The most repeated rumor that I am hearing these days is the trading of Glenn Dorsey. I have read the the Lions, and Panthers have interest. I am not ready to give up on Glenn Dorsey, allow me to expand...
